How to prepare?

You must have heard the phrase ‘practice makes a man perfect’. This is the time to execute it! The practice is the key to crack the toughest of exams. But what should you practice and how? We tell you:

Dive deep

To start with, you need to have a proper understanding of the topics you are preparing for. For this, dive deep into each and every topic, be well versed about them. Doing this will help you not only in preparing for the exam but will also make you more knowledgeable.

Know your state’s culture

You may know about the festivities in your state, but do you know why they are dominant there? Because TSPSC is a state service commission, it is very beneficial for the candidates to get to know Telangana in and out. You can start with surface knowledge, which is culture, festivities, religion, and much more. Later, you can dig deep into the history and formation of the state.

GK and current affairs

Brush up your GK and stay updated with the happenings around the world. Having a stronghold on both the topics increases chances of attaining good marks in preliminary exam and general studies paper.

Frequent breaks

While it is important to dedicate at least 7-8 hours to studies, it is also important to take frequent breaks. This helps in regaining focus and concentration and helps in gasping more information when you sit to study again.

Study pattern

It is important to have a set routine and a study pattern that suits you best. Having a pattern helps strategize your study and helps prepare well and systematically. Having a study pattern of your own helps you learn in the best way possible, and also helps complete the syllabus on time.

Time management

Along with studies, it is also important to maintain your physical health. Make time for everything, from exercise to studies. Allot a set amount of time for every activity. You may want to start your day with jogging or cycling or any exercise you like. This helps in boosting concentration power and keeps you fit at the same time. After you have exercised, you can sit to study and take frequent breaks as suggested.

Look back in time

While you are preparing for exams, do not forget to attempt previous years’ question papers. Doing so helps you get an idea about the type of questions asked, and the pattern of the same. You can practice by attempting these papers and mark yourself accordingly.

Be aware of negative marking

It is important to go through the instructions for the exam and check if there is any negative marking. If you are aware of the marking scheme, it will help you in strategizing better on how to go about answering the questions. You will know which questions to attempt and how many questions you can risk which you are not sure about.

Time yourself

While solving a question paper, it is also important to keep a track of time as there is a lot of thinking to do, and a lot of questions to be answered. You can start by choosing a section, for example, you can choose to solve the General Knowledge section first. Now, put on a timer and see how much time you are able to solve all the questions. Practice until you become fast at answering questions.

Mock test is the best

Once you have prepared all the topics well, you can start taking mock tests online. There are many websites that offer free mock tests. This helps in rating yourself on the basis of your preparation. The more you attempt these tests, the more it brushes your knowledge and time management. Apart from online mock tests, many books also provide you with the same along with previous years’ question papers in case you prefer the latter. UrExam offers you more than 65000+ question to prepare for your examination.

Know relations

Keep a track of the ever-changing relationship between the state and the centre as the latter’s decisions affect the former in every way. Staying up-to-date with this, you will be able to track changes in the policies and schemes laid by the state government.

Visit government websites frequently

Government websites and portals which offer these jobs also put free mock tests and previous years’ question papers online. This is great for the ones who cannot afford to pay for priced mock tests for practice or coaching. Also, the government keeps updating its website with changes in syllabus and exam dates, so it becomes important to keep a track of the same in order to prepare accordingly.

Confidence is foremost

Last but not the least, be confident of what you have studied. If you have studied everything and are not confident enough, you may not be able to perform to the best of your ability. Trust your ability to crack the exam and everything you have studied, and you will see yourself succeeding within no time.

Strategize well and study well, and be confident of what you do, then there can be nothing stopping you from achieving what you desire. Keep the above tips in mind and prepare
