NTA (National testing agency), an Indian government agency, established in 2017 conducts entrance examinations for higher educational studies like JEE Main (Joint Entrance Examination- Main), NEET UG (National eligibility cum entrance test), NET (National eligibility test), CMAT (Common management Admissions Test), GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) etc.

Students who clear the NTA exams for their respective course will be able to get admissions into good universities, after counselling and also get financial benefits. NTA recorded 16, 14, 777 registrations for NEET-UG 2021 examinations, JEE entrants amounted to 6,19,338 registrations.

These exams have tough competition because there are limited seats and only a few out of the whole make the cut because the question papers are extremely tough and only the well-revised can even attempt to get a pass in the exams. The reason for such tough questionnaires is to select quality and deserving students for the minimal number of seats available.

Everyone wants to clear the NTA exams in the first attempt but it is a very hard task and even through strenuous practice, practicing hundreds of NTA mock test and going to coaching classes with packed schedules, only few get high marks. But, let’s keep all the dispiriting aside and start believing in ourselves.

It can be tough but with belief, hard work and the conviction that you can make it work, if you put your mind to it. Below are listed a few methods/tips that you can follow to clear your NTA exam in the first attempt, itself.

Preparing

Learning for long hours and yet feel like you aren’t completing a sufficient amount of the portions? Feeling like there isn’t enough time to finish the mountain of lessons that you have yet to complete?

These feelings are normal for a student, learning for an exam and for someone writing any NTA exam, these feelings can even be crippling and overwhelming. A day has 24 hours and 6 hours of sleep is important for a healthy lifestyle.

So now we have 18 hours and in these 18 hours, you can make the best of your time. Try following the Pomodoro technique and the reward technique. After you finish a set of portions, take a small, mindful break and do things that you like to relieve your mind and this will actually help you learn your lessons and revisions better. Keep time limits, while writing your NTA mock test, so that it can be good practice for the exams.

During the exam

Many prepare well for the exams but fail to finish their exams within the prescribed time limit. The main reason for this is that students don’t have strong time management skills. Keeping a time limit for each topic can help you in bettering your skills.

Analyze your syllabus

Go through all your topics and mark your strengths and weaknesses. This will help in half the preparation. Once you know your strengths, you can whisk through them faster and then, learn the harder ones with more concentration and attention. You can plan different strategies for studying the topics and NTA mock tests can be taken to have an understanding of your knowledge level. Skimming through the topics will not help you to fetch marks in these exams, each topic has to be studied thoroughly, so that any question can be answered.

“Can do” attitude

Of course, the acceptance rates can seem daunting but being encouraged will keep you on your track to success. The present study sessions can be difficult but think of the greater good. Having a positive attitude towards what you do will help you achieve your goals. Even if you are a repeater, you shouldn’t let negative thoughts impede you. Instead, you should view yourself as someone who has had a lay of the land already and now, you’re marching into battle, well prepared.

Exam analysis

Go through previous years’ question papers and locate the repeated questions and learn these chapters thoroughly. You will be able to assess how the questions are asked and their difficulty levels. You can take NTA mock tests and grade them, so that you can see your level of knowledge and also feel confident. Go through previous years’ cutoff as well.

Make a study timetable

The study hears depends on each student. However, having a schedule and a structured regimen can help. A student can study 10-12 hours a day, ideally. You can keep weekly targets or daily targets, as per your preference and complete them. You can work on previous year’s NTA mock tests and self-evaluate your performance. Revision is mandatory.

Maximum practice questions

Your study needs to comprise heavily of practice questions, as they are the ones which can fetch you marks. When learning theory, you should study the practical questions, related to it. This will give you more ideas about the concept and you become well-versed in the particular topic. Testing yourself with mock tests helps as well.

Make notes

When preparing unit-wise, the habit of making notes will prove helpful in the end. This will be of great use in covering the syllabus. As you jot down the main points, you will be able to retract all of the information from it and it is easy to utilize. They are handy and can be used, anywhere

Revise

Revision is essential for scoring good marks, this will help you understand the concepts better and stronger. Revisions can be done weekly or fortnightly. Last revision can happen before the NTA exams. You can practice NTA mock tests, so that you get the feel of writing the exam.
